Colo. lawmaker gets rebuke over race comments
Aug 22, 12:43 PM EDT

DENVER (AP) -- A Colorado Republican state senator is being criticized for making stereotypical remarks about black people eating chicken during a legislative meeting analyzing poverty trends.

Sen. Vicki Marble of Fort Collins apologized for her remarks a few hours after she made them Wednesday, but she had already drawn the condemnation of fellow lawmakers.

Marble's comments came while she was taking about health issues that black people face.

"Sickle-cell anemia is something that comes up. Diabetes is something that's prevalent in the genetic makeup, and you just can't help it. Although I've got to say, I've never had better barbecue and better chicken and ate better in my life than when you go down South and you, I mean, I love it and everybody loves it," she said.

Possibly because my parents had a background in farming.

that these are the types who screamed bloody murder when Michelle Obama insinuated - with far more diplomacy - the exact same thing and suggested families eat better, "How DARE she tell me what to feed my child! Who the hell does she think she is?"

That's not such a horrible, unforgivable thing to say. Silly, stereotyping, insensitive, yes. If she made a habit of it, that would be different. But, hey, I'm black, and I wouldn't throw someone under the bus if this is the worse thing they ever said. Throw Limbo and O'Reilley under there first. I just hate to see people so fearful of talking to people of different races and having to walk on eggshells. Let's offer a little grace when we can and give this woman a chance to redeem herself. God knows I've said the wrong thing and I know how much it hurts to have people accuse you of something you had no intention of doing. We've got much bigger dragons to slay.

Just doesn't understand what all the fuss is about.
Because she asserts, that wait for it...she isn't a racist!

Um, I hate to tell you this, but you ARE a racist.
But she knew that already.
Probably has that white woman's fantasy of living on the plantation and being "ravished" by the slaves.
