Mo. station rejects Perry pitch for low-tax Texas
Source: AP
ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis radio station is dropping an ad in which Texas Gov. Rick Perry urges Missouri businesses to consider relocating to his income tax-free state.
KTRS-AM general manager Mark Dorsey says the station was told by a Texas marketing group that the ad was meant to promote tourism in the Lone Star State. Instead, the Republican governor promotes Texas as a "great place to live and work."
Perry is scheduled to visit Missouri next week. He's expected to tout his state's business-friendly environment in an address to supporters of an effort to override Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon's veto of an income tax cut.
Dorsey says his station stopped broadcasting the ad because it's "focused on stealing locally owned companies away from St. Louis."

(9,350 posts)In my opinion going from state to state trying to get businesses to leave other states instead of just trying to create and improve businesses in Texas makes Gov. Rick Perry look bad. It makes him look either lazy, or stupid. Lazy in that he is not willing to put in the work to create and improve businesses in Texas. Stupid in that he is not smart enough to come up with a plan to create and improve businesses in Texas.
How much money has Gov. Perry spent making these ads and airing them in multiple states? All of that money could have been put in a fund to help entrepreneurs create new businesses, or expand already existing businesses.

(136 posts)They all went blue and are solidly blue, despite the state's redistricting attempts to weaken these strongholds. I also think Fort Worth might be worth saving, considering that's Wendy Davis' area. Governor Davis, LOVE how that sounds! If you have a spare nickle or two, consider contributing it to her campaign once she announces... The "good ol' boys" won't know what hit 'em.
It's time to bring Texas back home to the Democrats so LBJ can stop spinning in his grave and get some much needed rest.
