back in the early 90's. (I asked him the first time I met him what his ag background was and he replied "Nothing!&quot . He was actually a damn good Ag Comish.

But he's very unelectable here now and I doubt he even wants to mess with it.

Bill White couldn't beat Perry, the Castros have zero chance. They have no credentials to speak of.

I don't think any Democrat could have won in Texas in 2010, but the Castro brothers both are solid Democrats who are young and very dynamic. With our changing demographics, they will have a much better chance in the very near future.

9. The Castro brothers have very little of substance to offer

And to be blunt but truthful about it, they're all fluff. They have few if any original ideas to offer. We've put all image no substance people like them up before and they all crashed and burned as surely either Castro will do.

She was quite instramental in the demonstrations and a good friend of Wendy Davis's.

Care to venture anything constructive---or are you looking forward to having yet another Republican asshole in the governor's office?

But this problem has been going on for over 15 years. I peg the beginning of serious problems to when Bill White overthrew Slagle. Regardless, When the TDP's whole strategy centers around "wait till we have more Hispanics" you know how screwed you are.

....they pale in comparison to the sort of neglect we've put up with from the national party over recent years. They are happy to take our money, but we're seeing damn little in the way of meaningful support from them.

Sounds to me like you've basically written off Texas; you've got plenty of company here at DU. I don't share your dark outlook. Roll over, play dead, and let a scumbag like Greg Abbott take power without a fight? I don't think so.....

But I don't do what I used to anymore. Got tired of the whole thing. I lay a lot of the problems in the state at the feet of no good SOBs like Gary Mauro (that's nothing I haven't told him to his face) and others that package Texas money and send it out of the state to other campaigns. They are THE reason the TDP is in the shape it's in now. It's why Texas is seated in the parking lot at the DNC. Its why the Texas delegation is housed at the most inconvenient hotel at the DNC. It's FUBAR. Sadly, there is no other option but to wait for enough Hispanics in Texas.

Then again, I'm not in the best of moods today.

I say we focus on turning some of these white-boy Republicans into Democrats by actually focusing on issues. After all, it worked on me a long time ago when Howard Dean started speaking truth to power.

But you are 100% correct about the white folks. And that is best done one on one. I've got a whole lot of people rethinking their support of the GOP on economic issues and starting to see the bait and switch on the social issues.

Planted her feet, but we do need other Democrats to provide a fire. I think the Castro brothers are going to be popular and just maybe holding high offices in the future.

as Boxer's a shoe-in and my local Reps are all Republicans. The Democrats RARELY run anyone against them even though the county is majority Democrat. On the rare occasion they run a Democrat it's a sacrifice candidate who doesn't campaign and no one's ever heard of. So, this year, my money will be going out of the area and, in some cases, like this one, out of state. I'm looking forward to donating as much as I can to her campaign.
