Guilty verdict in Brunswick baby murder

Source: WSBTV.com

A Cobb County jury has found De'Marquise Elkins guilty on all counts of fatally shooting a baby in a stroller.

Elkins, 18, was charged with murder and other crimes in the March 21 killing of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in Brunswick, along Georgia's coast. He's also accused of shooting the baby's mother in the leg and, 10 days earlier, a pastor during a robbery attempt.

A defense attorney for Elkins said in closing arguments that the investigation was flawed and police ignored other leads and suspects, while the prosecution said witnesses may have had shifting stories but video and other evidence doesn't lie.

Elkins faces life in prison if convicted of murder. At the time of the shooting he was 17, too young to face the death penalty if convicted under Georgia law.

This kid will wish he would have had the death penalty, because he will be in hell when he goes to jail. Even hardened criminals do not condone child cruelty much less the murder of a baby.

this little punk was guilty, only took 1 and 1/2 hours to reach a guilty verdict.

Now the defense wants to try to move it back to Brunswick and get a retrial? What makes him think the verdict will be any different? Because they'll get more AA's on a jury? That seems a little racist to me.
Even the 2 AA women on this jury had no doubt of his guilt.

for what was always obviously the work of this monster?

My favorite was when people thought she shot herself and the baby because she had gunshot residue on her, as if getting shot at close range wouldn't have the same effect.
