Controversial pastor Terry Jones wins legal ruling against Dearborn

Source: Detroit News

Detroit — A federal judge has issued a victory to controversial Florida pastor Terry Jones.

U.S. District Court Judge Denise Page Hood on Friday issued a summary judgment in favor of Jones and his organization, Stand Up America Now, against the City of Dearborn for requiring Jones and his organization to sign a city-issued agreement in order to speak on public property in front of a Dearborn mosque last year...

Jones has maintained said he should not have been forced to sign an agreement in order to speak on public property and that such an agreement violates his constitutional rights.

Page Hood agreed, saying the “City of Dearborn’s (Ordinances) are declared unconstitutional and are in violation of Plaintiff’s First Amendment rights.”

This judgement will be relevant next week when the annual Quran-burning Jonesfest occurs once again in Florida.

And I'll put my money on it being the last annual Quran burning he will hold.

I don't think the poster thought beyond the words he typed and how they'd be interpreted.

We all do that from time to time, I guess.

Is it because you think that Muslims are violent?
or
Is it because you condone violence as a suppression tool for speech you disagree with?

Glad the court protected the 1st Amendment. I have no dog in the Christianity versus Islam fight.

The Thomas More Law Center was created by Dominos Pizza founder Tom Monaghan. It's an ultra-right-wing Catholic organization. Real "Opus Dei" stuff.

I wish the City of Dearborn would just ignore him, let him speak where he wants, and send all the cops to various excellent donut shops around here.

I'd bet he'd attract a crowd of Muslims, who would shout him down, but otherwise leave him unharmed.

Ironically, Terry Jones is doing far more damage to Christianity than any Muslim ever could.
