Okla. governor tells Guard to deny same-sex benefits

Source: Associated Press

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has ordered the National Guard to stop processing requests for military benefits for same-sex couples.

Fallin spokesman Alex Weintz told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the governor was following the wish of Oklahoma voters, who approved a constitutional amendment that prohibits giving benefits of marriage to gay couples.

and into prison. For life.

Every single Republicans needs to learn the meaning of being poor and dependant.

Arresting them without compunction is the only answer and their own profit prison can earn their dime from incarcerated Republicans until they denounce the ideology and go left.

Easiest charge to go through: RICO. They are nothing but a corrupt organization bought and paid for by the special interest which is in conflict with the Constitution.

recognized for the unconstitutional laws and amendments they are, she is probably within her rights.

The National Guard is a dual entity - part federal and part state. The part which is state is (at least on the books) forbidden from recognizing same gender marriages. It appears that the issue isn't the source of the benefits, but whether state workers or federal workers process the applications. If that is the case, she is probably correct that legally married couples will need to apply for the benefits at a federal base.

. . . not that I wouldn't welcome a legal challenge to these unconstitutional pieces-o-hate.

Weintz said same-sex couples that have been legally married in other states still can apply for those benefits at a federal facility, such as Tinker Air Force Base, rather than a state-operated facility.

She is not succeeding in preventing receipt of benefits, she's just making it hard for people.

Again, what an asshole.
