Starbucks to Customers: Please Leave Your Guns at Home

Source: Business Week

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek that firearms and cappuccino don’t mix. Beginning today, the ubiquitous caffeine bars “respectfully request” that gun owners leave their weapons in their cars or at home, Schultz said by telephone. “We’re not pro-gun or anti-gun,” he explained. The chain simply wants no part of the escalating debate over the Second Amendment and the place of firearms in American society.

To each his own, but their coffee really isn't anymore expensive than most places other than gas stations whose burnt coffee on a burner for 4 hours obviously does appeal to some people.

I laughed when I read that. I have a 2 1/2 hour one-way commute. I stop in at the same gas station to tank up on caffine morning and night, they have the best coffee around. Plus, since it's my favorite time of the year, now they rolled out the pumpkin flavored coffee and creamers.

At the Starbucks closest to me that is frequented mainly by Somali men. This was the day after the Starbucks bring your gun to have coffee day. I asked her if she had seen a lot of people with guns. She said: "Why would anyone need a gun to have coffee?" I said good question, but told her about the pro-gun Starbucks appreciation day. She was puzzled, didn't understand it at all. This was a sweet, very young woman. She said something about how she thought gun control was necessary because too many people were dying, but you could tell she wasn't particularly political.

Simply asking will not get them anywhere. They state just as much that if someone comes in with a firearm they will still serve them. The serious gun humpers like the idiot who went into Wal-Mart with his assault rifle and the three women who entered a restaurant inside a Wal-Mart with handguns holstered on their sides will continue to pull the stunts they have been pulling for years.

Here's just a few more cases of people doing the same thing:

#t=69 (this is the one with the women in Wal-Mart at the restaurant)

They are getting desperate and trying to intentionally cause a disruption with either store employees and/or police.

Starbuck's “respectfully requests”? No. Starbuck's should forbid, and with a big "No guns allowed" sign in front.

I'm hoping this is a marketing/sales reaction, but - 'Yer too late Schultz! You should have stood up and screamed "No way in hell!", when the gun nuts held "Gun Appreciation Day" - in the NEWTOWN, CONNECTICUT Starbucks!

That did it for me and Starbucks.
