UN chemical weapons inspectors 'to return to Syria'

Source: BBC News

Russia's government says UN chemical weapons inspectors are expected to return to Syria on Wednesday.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said they would investigate alleged chemical weapons attacks at Khan al-Assal, Sheikh Maqsoud and Saraqeb, according to the Interfax news agency.

The inspectors had been preparing to do so when chemical weapons were fired at suburbs of Damascus on 21 August.

Last week, they confirmed the nerve agent sarin was used in that attack.

There have been other references re. their return but no lead time specified.

Given the later news re. Russian exports of gas missiles to Libya , Egypt and the Yemen min 1960's- gathering up missile parts may help identify their original owners by part number.

So why would they have been done for the time being.

Our possible bombing had nothing to do with leaving early and having to return?

BEIRUT (AP) -- Lebanese airport officials say a team of U.N. chemical weapons inspectors has arrived in Beirut on its way back to Syria.

U.N officials say the inspectors will complete their investigation into "pending credible allegations" of chemical weapons use in Syria's civil war.

Lebanese officials say the six-member team, led by Swedish expert Ake Sellstrom, will travel by road to Syria later Wednesday.
