Nairobi attack: UK woman and Americans 'among militants'

Source: BBC

A British woman is thought to be among militants who killed at least 67 people at a Kenyan shopping centre, the country's foreign minister has said.

Amina Mohamed said the woman had "done this many times before" and "two or three" Americans were also attackers.

In a televised address to the nation, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said the four-day siege was over and declared three days of national mourning starting on Wednesday.

Mr Kenyatta said intelligence reports suggested a British woman and "two or three" Americans citizens may have been involved in the attack.

Despite it not being 100% confirmed, the statements by Kenya's foreign minister and President are news.

Kenyan Foreign Minister Says 'Two or Three' Americans Involved in Mall Attack

MARGARET WARNER: So, both Britain and American citizens were among the perpetrators?

AMINA MOHAMED: Yes.

From the information that we have, two or three Americans, and I think so far I have heard of one Brit.

MARGARET WARNER: And the Brit was a British foreign woman?

AMINA MOHAMED: Woman. Woman. And she has, I think, done this many times before.

MARGARET WARNER: And the Americans?

AMINA MOHAMED: The Americans, from the information we have, are young men, about between maybe 18 and 19.

WAS BRITISH WOMAN AMONG TERRORISTS?

WITNESSES are still insisting that a woman was involved in the attacks in Westgate mall despite a government statement that all the attackers were male.

Al Shabaab on its Twitter account has also claimed that the 17 attackers were all men including Americans, Britons, Syrians, Swedish and Somalis.

Chief of Defence Forces General Julius Karangi yesterday confirmed that the security forces were dealing with a multinational group.

However multiple survivors of the attack have narrated how a woman appeared to be giving orders to the attackers on Saturday afternoon.

From the Star link:

Two Radio Africa Group employees caught in the gun battle said a woman appeared to be giving orders. One said her face was covered but she had a woman's arms and body. She was not carrying a gun but had large bag around her waist.

They said she would speak English in a foreign accent and then her orders would be translated into Swahili and the attackers would advance.

"The woman was not armed but as soon as she issued orders, the men would go on a killing rampage," one employee said.

"It was definitely a woman because we could tell it from the voice," said another employee.

and maybe that's why some of the people thought there was a woman ?

as for this british woman. if she is not among these terrorists then i assume she must be out there somewhere else so maybe they can try to track her down.
