Obama rebukes 'irresponsible' Republicans in health care speech
By Carrie Dann, Political Reporter, NBC News

President Barack Obama dismissed what he called the “antics” on Capitol Hill over the budget to keep up the sales pitch on his namesake health care law Thursday.

Slamming “irresponsible” congressional Republicans who have threatened to shut down the government or prevent a raise in the debt ceiling if the Affordable Care Act is not defunded, a defiant Obama said the health law won’t be derailed.

“That’s not going to happen as long as I am president,” he said during an appearance at a community college just outside Washington D.C.’s Beltway. “The Affordable Care Act is here to stay.”

......................................

"I won’t negotiate on anything when it comes to the full faith and credit of the United States of America," he said.

Health care is here to stay;
Not for a year
But ever and a day.

The Libertar'ns and the TeaBaggers
And the Wingnuts that we know
May just be passing flatulence,
And in time may blow!

But, GOP,
Health care is here to stay.
Together we're
Going a long, long way

In time the Rockies may crumble,
Gibraltar may tumble,
(If the Repubs had their way!)
But health care is here to stay.

We(republicans) don't care about the middle class, the ill, the poverty stricken. We don't care about our constituents or their families!

We only care about the BANKSTERS, and the dollars and cents they put in our wallets!

my daughter has had cancer,on and off for 9 years

she had a hysterectomy which thru her body into early menopause, which sucked the calcium out of her, which made her teeth break off at gum line so she needs oral surgery....medicaid in illinois will only pay for one tooth a year thru oral surgery, even if it will kill you....so over and over she is at the er for pain, antibiotics and just miserable in general...plus i know the er visits have been more expense than the surgery would of been

she has been denied ss disability, denied state disability so she still works as much as possible thru her pain and thank the lord she has compassionate employers who do not fire or replace her because of missed time but still THE WAY SHE IS TREATED BY THE GOV'T IS JUST NOT HUMAN

i want to be hopeful but it looks like the aca is just going to cement the 2 tier level of treatment citizens are receiving

i could tell a hundred tales about the horrors of medicaid here in illinois,a supposedly progressive state but what good would it do when politicians seem to always make the worst possible decisions for all of us?

but it drives me crazy when people act like MORE people on crappy medicaid is a good thing...i guess it is better than nothing but if illinois politicians had to spend a week in her shoes the laws would be different
