Senate rejects House budget, just hours to shutdown
Source: AFP
Washington (AFP) - The US Senate on Monday swiftly rejected a House measure to delay President Barack Obama's health care law as part of a federal funding bill, pushing the government ever-closer to a shutdown.
Congress now has less than 10 hours to resolve a bitter impasse over a temporary spending bill before many federal agencies shut their doors, forcing hundreds of thousands of federal employees to stay home.
The Senate voted down the House measure 54 to 46, dividing along party lines with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid vowing no compromise with the Republican-controlled lower house.
"We are not changing Obamacare," Reid said. "I have a very simple message to John Boehner: Let the House vote. Stop trying to force a government shutdown."

(11,297 posts)Funding bill with ACA and then add a single insignificant "concession" and make the GOP House Members say no to it.
Then you have them.

(101,295 posts)Do you know that a Republican voted with the Democrats? If not, then all the Democrats voted the same way, as well as King and Sanders.

(101,295 posts)I didn't mean my question to be 'un-calm' in any way. If you did know a Republican had voted with the Dems, you would have been right. Collins, for instance, might have, given her earlier comments.

Susan Collins concession comes a bit too late. She could make good on that by voting against the measure that just passed the House.

Make them concede, when the banks are taking petrillion dollar hits because the House refused to pay on its credit card, the .01%ers will have no choice but to clean house.
Bail out with what? The money is now worthless and credit an abstract concept.
They know this but the Dems have caved every single goddamned time in the past.
The Dems finally have the big hammer,it is past time to nail these shysters!
Maybe it is too late, maybe it is the beginning of a new chapter in the history of a government,of,by and for the people.
