Trio arrested in 8-month-long torture of woman

Chambers County sheriff's deputies have made three arrests in the 2012 case of a woman who officials say was held against her will for eight months, beaten and left in a monthlong coma.

Rusty Sherrill, 57, James Logan Ruff, 23, and Max Lee Ruff, 21, have all been arrested and charged with aggravated assault in the case, according to the Chambers County Sheriff's Office.

Sherrill has also been charged with aggravated sexual assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated kidnapping and impersonating a public servant, according to arrest records.

All three are being held in the Chambers County jail.

Chambers County deputies said the trio repeatedly assaulted and held the woman against her will from September 2011 to May 2012, when the mother of the victim retrieved her from the situation and took her daughter to an area hospital.

12. There are some odd things about this story

In May 2012, the mother of the victim "retrieved" her daughter from the "situation". Did the perps call the mother up and say, "Hey, come get your daughter" ?

And this had been a case that was "cold" until last August? The mother and daughter knew who the perps were, how could the case get "cold" and forgotten?

You know there are women who pimp out their daughters. I've known two women who stayed with men they knew were molesting their daughters. I'd have saved the state the cost of a trial. But some people are so screwed up it's almost incomprehensible. They don't end up well either.
