MacNeill found guilty in slaying of wife

Source: The Salt Lake Tribune

It took a jury 11 hours to return a guilty verdict on Friday for Martin MacNeill, accused of killing his wife at their Pleasant Grove home six years ago.

This case drew National attention including a story on ABC's 20/20. The trial lasted 4 weeks and many felt that the evidence against him was insufficient for a guilty verdict.

I think the channel was "Court TV".

Never heard of the case. They had an on screen graphic saying, "Prescription for murder?".

No bias there.

extra meds to be prescribed (which would not interact well) for his wife after surgery, and had overmedicated her, leading to her death.
Unless every single one of his own daughters among others colluded to lie about his actions, it seems he was guilty as sin. But he was a life long fraudster and a sociopath from all accounts, so I don't think so. From the testimony that was kept out, it seems it wasn't his first time, either.

3. He may also have killed his own brother - drowned in a bathtub

Something he told an earlier mistress.

Also told mistress he tried to kill his own mother by drugging her beer.

I think this guy is a serial killer.

moved his mistress in so quickly- or if he had gotten her to actually cook or care for the kids a bit at first, I think he would have gotten away with it. Instead of taking care of the kids, she snuck up to his bedroom and started wearing Mom's clothes. Brazen.
And yeah, the bathtub, he went with what he knew. And counted on the women in his life to keep quiet. Bizarre. Horrible that his only son ended his own life, but sociopaths can leave a lot of wreckage.

Now that I think of it, that's the obvious defense (Dr) Rand Paul could use too.

His writer couldn't type very well but could use the mouse.

especially in how they screw up their whole family. He almost got off because his daughters were emotionally wrecked by all the manipulation. The only kid who defended him, ended up killing himself. I bet that poor kid figured it out in the end. Dad was a life long scam artist, who almost succeeded in gas lighting his entire family.
After having eight kids, some still young, he basically didn't want to give up the house or anything in a divorce because he was busted for cheating. He just wanted to move seamlessly to a new woman two weeks after his wife's death. Amazing balls it took for him to do that right under his children's noses.

Wife's dead, girlfriend needs a new ID, so he dumps his daughter and gives his mistress the girl's social security number.

Luckily the older daughters got their little sister back.

This man is just the worst piece of crap. Serial killer to boot.

as witnesses who would prove his stories for him, feeding them tidbits of BS, to witnessing him "meeting" Gypsy (after "praying" on the nanny question, LOL), to finding the body itself.

I'm glad his lawyer smirked way too frequently, it was creepy how they tried to paint the daughters as crazy- and the wife and mother of eight kids as someone who 'never worked" and had no money to give her kids- that it was all Dad's. What a fucking idiot. That's why he killed her- he believed everything was rightfully his.

We keep the TV on CNN or HLN at work, and it was pretty obvious they thought he was guilty. I had never heard of him until a few weeks ago.
