Almost 27,000 selected insurance via HealthCare.gov

Source: USA Today

Just 26,794 of the 106,185 people who selected health insurance last month used the troubled federal exchange site, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Wednesday.

The remaining 79,391 people used the state exchanges to enroll, for a total of 106,185 people enrolled from Oct. 1 to Nov. 2. That's a fraction of the 7 million people the government estimates will buy insurance during the first year of the Affordable Care Act.

Of the overall total, 35,364 were in California, which is one of the states most targeted by the Obama administration.

"No one will be satisfied with the numbers because they will be below what we sought prior to the launch," White House spokesman Jay Carney said.

This is exactly what the GOP hoped for.

We democrats need to get angry and fight them back. We need to stay awake for 2014 and vote against them, because that is the only way we can make sure people can benefit from this law.

Encourage your friends and family members who couldn't get through online to try signing up by phone in the meantime until the site is fixed.

How is it going to be possible for that to happen now?

I know people have until March to avoid the fine, but it looks like people who need to get insurance because they have lost it are going to have to go directly to the insurance companies? I know that's not working right now if they need subsidies.

What in hell?

The enrolled figures they released today were less than they said before!

I posted about the website being clearly messed up a month ago, and I quickly received numerous comments saying I just didn't understand what the problem was, and it'd be fine soon enough... (nothing more needs said to that point)

the national number of people who got an account set up in the first month would fill less than half of Dodger Stadium...

just what the hell did that company who was paid all that cash do? they should be investigated, and I don't understand why the HHS wasn't on top of what they were doing.

talk about embarrassing and infuriating. President Obama has to be on blood pressure meds, that's all I can think!

Like Letterman was wondering tonight, who exactly are these 9% of people that approve of the job that Congress is doing?

so aggravating. apparently that 9% are absolute haters of change, and the very wealthy who are conservatives. How anyone can say they're doing a good job in the House is beyond reason!

wouldn't surprise me one DAMN bit that an operative from the right-wing O-haters club screwed with the site's coding or something. They're working very hard to fix it now. You can see changes to it's flow if you've visited the old site, and now go in again. Here's two fingers crossed for success. The president deserves it.
