Palin's PAC asks about Bashir action

Source: AP

NEW YORK (AP) — Sarah Palin on Wednesday cancelled a scheduled interview with NBC's Matt Lauer following MSNBC host Martin Bashir's suggestion that she deserved a graphic punishment for comments made about slavery.

An NBC executive who spoke on condition of anonymity because the person is not involved in booking "Today" show guests confirmed the cancellation, first reported by Fox News. NBC hopes to reschedule Lauer's trip to Alaska for the holiday season interview, the executive said.

Palin has proven a potent ratings-grabber for the second-place morning show, where she once appeared as a guest host.

Bashir apologized Monday for suggesting that someone defecate in Palin's mouth because of a remark she made comparing the United States' indebtedness to China with slavery. MSNBC has not responded to repeated queries about whether Bashir will face disciplinary action. Bashir anchored his show on Wednesday.

Defecating in Sarah Palin's mouth would only improve the quality of what comes out of her mouth.

I support Martin Bashir.

I actually had to laugh at this particular dig, that I think many people missed:

Meanwhile on Wednesday, Palin posted on Facebook her brother’s response to a tweet by singer Cher referring to Palin as a “dumb C word.” It’s not clear what set the singer off, although her tweet came on the same day of Bashir’s telecast.

Palin’s brother, Chuck Heath, said he was sorry to hear Cher make such “vile comments” about his sister.

“It’s sad because Sarah has never had a harsh word to say about you,” Heath wrote. “In fact, our grandmother was one of your biggest fans.”

thus forming a permanent plug that would silence her screechy mouth. Since she probably never learned to write, we'd finally be free from her stupid comments.

Bashir insulted her in such an intellectual way, I'm actually surprised her handlers figured out what he meant. Snowflake Snooki would never have gotten it.

.... I wondered on Monday what the hay he was apologizing about. "What on God's earth could he have said or done to elicit such an apology?" I thought. Now we learn... ohhhh. We are kneeling down in front of our winger masters again begging for forgiveness. It's a nasty remark he made for sure over the air, but when you realize who he was referring to it sounds more like a joke we might make right here in our DU environs.

Martin almost lost my total support when he gave Alan Grayson trouble a few weeks ago. But I forgave him and will stand by him now. After all, everything that comes out of the winger mouth nowadays might as well be doo-doo. I can understand why Martin lost his temper and went a little over the line on the lipsticked-up %#^%%$!

The Powers To Be decided to let Obama win the election giving the public the Democrat they so badly wanted. They thought they could, by one means or another, discredit him. And they still are working on that. They wanted to teach the public a lesson for wanting a Democrat. So they picked a washed up nitwit John McCain and chose a loud mouthed idiot to be his running mate. McCain never liked Palin for many reasons. She was a female. She easily upstaged poor ole John Boy.

Than they are.

When is the last time that a reichwing commentator apologized for insulting anyone? Did Limbaugh's apology to Sandra Fluke get any better than "I'm sorry if anyone was offended?" Has Ann Coulter, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, et al, ever given an actual apology for the vile things they have said? Has Bill-O ever received disciplinary time off the air for the insults he throws out all the time? For that matter, perhaps Caribou Barbie would like to apologize for "death panels" or "pals around with terrorists," hmm?

If anyone remembers anything like that, please let us know. I can't think of a single thing.

Even Greta Van Sustren got it right when she said "We would like to think we are a really big deal, but on a good night 1-2% of the country is watching us.

One of the Kardashians or one of the guys from Duck Dynasty could probably beat her in an election if all the other networks ignored her.

I don't see why he needed to apologize for what he said. What he said is absolutely correct.

I'd lay odds MSNBC urged him to apologize on-air so that they wouldn't have to suspend him since it's obvious Martin Bashir has a huge fan base due to him being spot-on with what he says.

will anyone miss her?

She is nothing. She was plucked out of obscurity to show us that they, the Republicans, do put a woman on their ticket, though an empty headed one. She is relatively young and relatively attractive - to some - but who cares? What can she possibly contribute to the important issues facing us? And that shrill voice.

Enough already.

Bashir's fault is that he wasted one, or two, or three minutes even reporting about her comment.

He didn't need to and nor should he have been forced into apologizing for stating the truth.

I personally think the money only orientated red side of msnbc was upset because Matt Lauer wasn't going to get his way and interview the mentally challenged former Alaskan governor.

Martin Bashir did the right thing to help defuse the situation. He didn't have to apologize but he did and in my book that puts him above the issue and the other players involved.

Martin Bashir is a truly awesome human being! Not the same can be said for the crazy person from Alaska or the money only orientated red side of any media outlet.

Martin Bashir is still one of my favorite news hosts. I agree with him that crap is what spews from the ditsy dummy from Alaska's mouth every time she opens it and that it would be a good idea for her to eat her words err crap. I also agree with Martin Bashir on how he handled it.

And that should be the end of the issue.

If you decide you want to discuss Sarah Palin at all (a somewhat dubious premise to start with), it's quite possible to criticize her and expose her inanity without being tacky about it. Bashir's remark was tacky.

Graphic imagery of this sort could be excused if, although offensive to many people, it furthered the dialog. That's not the case here. His vitriol added nothing to our understanding of the subject he was addressing.

A further point, secondary but still important, is that Bashir's remark gave Palin and her allies the opportunity to go into poutrage mode, which they much prefer to any substantive discussion of issues.
