Mary Cheney Says She's 'Not Supporting' Sister Liz Cheney's Senate Campaign

Source: TPM

TOM KLUDT – NOVEMBER 21, 2013, 8:16 AM EST

If it wasn't already obvious, Liz Cheney probably shouldn't count on support from her sister in Wyoming's 2014 U.S. Senate race.

Still offended by her sister's public opposition to same-sex marriage, Mary Cheney told Politico Magazine in a story published Wednesday that she is "not supporting Liz’s candidacy."

“By supporting, I mean not working, not contributing, and not voting for (I’m registered in Virginia not Wyoming)," Mary Cheney wrote in an email. A family feud bubbled to the surface this week after Mary Cheney and her wife, Heather Poe, criticized Liz Cheney over her opposition to gay nuptials.

Mary Cheney said she hasn't spoken to her sister since the summer and the two will not be seeing each other on Christmas. The public quarrel prompted their father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, to release a statement in which he defended Liz Cheney's position on same-sex marriage.

puppet Bush were just as violently opposed to same sex marriage.

Sorry, Mary, you should have spoken up MUCH sooner. Instead, you decided "I got mine" and the hell with all the other homosexuals in America for far, far too many years. Even now, you can't even manage to say you think bigots like your sister shouldn't hold office:

“I am not saying I hope she loses to Enzi," Mary Cheney said.

Way to backtrack, Mary! You are the same pathetic POS you always were. You are a true Cheney through and through.

Pathetic. Mary, please!!! She throws you and your family under the bus, your parents give her political cover and you still equivocate about her fitness for office?

about the Cheneys but this crap is splitting families all over America and I am a member of one of them. It's very painful for some of us. I have two tea party baggers in my family that are not only racists but so-called Christians that don't like gays or brown skinned people and are hypocrites (I know I'm being redundant). Since the election of 2012, we have not spoken and one of those siblings I haven't spoken to in a couple of years. My 81 yo Mother (a liberal) is brokenhearted that politics has divided our family because we never discussed politics among family members. So how did this happen? Facebook!
Because my sibling cut off communicating with my Mother because he was MAD that Obama was reelected! This sibling used to call my Mother every week for 30 yrs after he left home but a Black Man (and Dem) is in the white house and Rush Limbaugh and Faux Spews is all they listen to. Communicating with my nieces and nephews now is strained because of all of the political crap spewed by them.

I don't have any sympathy for the Cheneys. I don't give a F* about that family. I care about mine and I'm being robbed of my siblings because this war on liberals is out of control. Just last week, I tried to mend fences and I got a big fat Zero in response.

but one hopes that the voters of Wisconsin will ask: what has she got, besides a famous (or infamous) name?

Some may think that her name will open more doors but I doubt. I think that by now Dick Cheney is more of a liability than an asset

I wonder if they are even talking to each other. The sisters' feud couldn't have happened to nicer parents.

You can love your sister, but disagree that she's suitable to be a US Senator.
