Evolution debate again engulfs Texas Board of Ed

Source: AP

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The Texas Board of Education used a late-night meeting to preliminarily approve new science textbooks for classrooms across the state late Thursday night, but it blocked signing off on a major new biology text until alleged "errors" in lessons over the theory of evolution are checked by outside experts.

The vote just before midnight did not reject the biology book by Pearson, one of the country's largest publishers. But it delayed approval until three board members appoint a trio of outside experts to check concerns.

...

State law approved two years ago means school districts can now choose their own books and don't have to adhere to a list recommended by the Board of Education — but most have continued to use approved books.

...

Pearson and many other major publishers weren't willing to make suggested major edits and changes, however.

That promoted some of the board's socially conservative members to call for delaying approval of the book because of concerns including how long it took Earth to cool and objection to lessons about natural selection because "selection operates as a selective but not a creative force."

Notice how often the Republicons and RepubliBaggers go OCCULT - hiding what they are doing from the light of day. This RepublVangelist devolution horseshit is just the latest episode. Then read what their Bible says about this OCCULT shit that they are inflicting on America:

Isa 29:15-16 (NIV) "Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their work in darkness..."

Please! They are indoor training facilities, coach's offices, meeting rooms,
locker rooms, TV interview areas, a film room, dining areas, medical rooms, cheer-
leader rooms, maybe an area for the marching band, places for the team buses and
a weight room. Now what would a high school do w/classrooms?

Good chance that they slipped in an indoor pool too.

Edit .... I missed the press box, upper level coach's boxes, food vending areas, and it
looks like they have an upper level concourse too.

BTW the field it's self wasn't cheap either. That is a product called "field turf" and it
costs over $10.00 per square foot just to install it ..... $4.00 for drainage and $6.00 for
the field turf.

That is why they cut Art, Music, Science, Teachers and anything else before they'll cut football and basketball.
Why else spend millions for high school sports stadiums?

If school athletics actually made money for the school in most cases, there wouldn't be need to make those other cuts. Other than some major college programs, athletics are usually a losing proposition money wise (for the school I mean..)

.... the tickets, parking fees, tv contracts, food vending and other revenue
streams.* No doubt this stadium was payed for by a some kind of bond(s)

* Now ESPN and Nike might have changed all that but if that high school
goes 4 and 5 next season they will not be any kind of hot property for the
media and or sport equipment companies.

We are looking for a good school district and our 20+ year house for our daughter who is now four-

Property taxes suck ass in Allen though, partially due to the new stadium. Their schools are a lot better than Richardson or Garland that's for sure. Also kind of looking around Murphy and maybe move from east Plano to west Plano....

Why can't they do that with science?

My high school was built with a copper domed observatory on the roof.

TEXAS TEXTBOOK ADOPTION IS A MAJOR VICTORY FOR SCIENCE EDUCATION

No Compromise on Science Instruction about Evolution or Climate Change in Textbooks, TFN President Says

Moments ago the Texas State Board of Education cast a final vote to approve science textbooks based on established science. This is a huge victory for science education and all the Texas students who will have sound science materials in their classrooms for the next decade.

Predictably, there was a last-minute effort at the board to threaten two widely used textbooks. But that attack yielded no concessions from either publisher that would water down instruction on evolution or climate change. And ultimately, the board voted to approve all the proposed science textbooks.
