The "young invincibles" the Affordable Care Act relies on to offset the cost of insuring older Americans are less familiar with the law than their elders.
According to a Gallup poll released Monday, young Americans aged 18-29 are the group least familiar with the health care law. While 63 percent of respondents in that age group said they were familiar with the law, 37 percent said they were not familiar. Those aged 50-64 are the group most familiar with the law, with 77 percent of respondents saying they are familiar with the law and 22 percent responding they were unfamiliar.
The poll found that overall familiarity with the Affordable Care Act is up only slightly from late summer and October. While a majority of uninsured young Americans believe it's important to have health coverage, a report released in August found only one in four young Americans were aware of the health insurance exchanges.
The Department of Health and Human Services was touting the affordability of insurance for those younger customers, nearly half of whom the department said could secure coverage for $50 or less a month, in a push to enroll 2.7 million people aged 18-34 by 2014.

I heard Kathleen Parker on some show say her kid was going to be 27 and she was going to tell him to get on line and get it taken care of...she's a rightwing writer and said that parents who were responsible were not going to listen to the Koch brothers that they were going to get their kids enrolled. Even rightwingers don't want to be paying their adult kids medical bills.
and he's signing up this week.

(39,215 posts)workers with three children. One works for a Ford dealership and the other works for Papa Murphy. He at least had some coverage through Ford but I don't know how good it is. I don't think they have even looked into ACA.
Now as I am on both Medicaid and Medicare I need to know the following:
1. It is mandatory that they sign up, right? Can they sign up late?
2. When is the deadline to sign up in Minnesota?
With this info I can push them into at least looking.
