A self-proclaimed tea party patriot is in hot water after being charged with distributing and receiving child pornography.

According to a federal complaint filed Tuesday, Brian Schwanke, 46, allegedly used the e-mail account [e-mail] to trade hundreds of child sex photos and videos, The Smoking Gun reported.

Federal agents raided Schwanke’s home in Adrian, Michigan in August, after getting a tip from Australian law enforcement officials, RawStory.com reported.

An undercover police officer in Queensland allegedly had an email conversation with Schwanke in July, during which Schwanke he sent a video of a naked prepubescent girl. He also claimed to have been a pastor for 20 years and allegedly had sex with numerous underage girls during that period, some as young as 8.

...The HERO Corps is an acronym for the Human Exploitation Rescue Operative Corps. It is a pilot program that is training wounded veterans to track down online child sexual predators and pornographers.



Justin is one of 17 wounded veterans from Special Operations currently training at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. He’s learning computer forensic analysis and digital evidence collection to identify and rescue child victims of sexual abuse and online sexual exploitation.

“It’s just like being back in country. I mean, you’re using the same mindset to track one terrorist and moving to track a different terrorist because that’s how I view a pedophile or child pornographers,” Gaertner said.

The HERO Corps training is as rigorous as Gaertner’s Marine boot camp which required physical endurance, but this training requires mental toughness he said...

An unusual path, that brings up conflicting emotions when one thinks on all of this. He and the others like him are working for the Departtment of Homeland Security. Given that the 'bust' was in August, and the cops raided that house and all that, and the charges came just now. Obviously, they 'found stuff' that corroborates the email exchanges.

If today was the day he was busted, and everything they 'had on him' was just interactions through gmail, I suppose one might semi-reasonably (if so inclined) entertain the whole 'his account must've been hacked/he's being set up' scenario, buuuuut ... given how it's all gone down and the time that's passed ... I'm going to say ... a 'setup' is not very damn likely.

And boy, talk about a friggin' idiot. I mean obviously he's a bad person/deviant but he's also amazingly stupid on top of it ... to be bragging that way about your illegal/immoral deeds to some total stranger on the internet, and sending them illegal photos ... how dumb do you have to be?

I hope this guy has no kids of his own, or access to them. At least that way the damage is somewhat 'contained'.

There's a part me though that always wonders when I hear a story like this ... I wonder what happened to THEM ... when they were children? It's pretty well-known this phenomenon is usually a 'cycle', where abuse begets abuse.

Not excusing it by any means, but ... there's a small part of me that feels pity for abuse victims that grow up to feel compelled to act in the same way they were 'taught'. Well, I should say, I feel some pity for those grown-up victims that actually TRY to get help, but still end up failing, because we have so very little in the way of treatments. OTOH, if they're victims but just go about their evil business w/o a 2nd thought when they grow up ... I have no pity at all for that.

23. Personal knowledge

Disregarding political parties and personally knowing this criminal who unfortunately is my (now disowned) father
I offer up more information on his background and the investigation
He does in fact have kids. 3 sons and myself ranging from ages 15-25. And a LIVING ex wife who divorced him because of his violent behavior throughout their 20 year marriage.
When they raided our house they found 34 videos and 2 pictures containing child pornography, and a pair of children's underwear.
Looking further into this it was not the first time he was caught with underage girls undergarments as it was brought to my attention that he was caught stealing our 14 year old babysitter's bras and underwear 15 years ago.
This morning (being December 18th at approximately 9 a.m) they arrested him.
They then, unfortunately, posted bond and let him go and he is now awaiting trial which could take up to 18 months.
It is also rumored that he may only be charged on 2 counts of possession/trafficking of child pornography despite them usually charging per video/photo found.
He is attempting to write this behavior off on being a "persona" he made up for sexual kicks which included saying he had a sexual relationship with his 10 year old daughter who he referred to many of the pre pubescent girls in the videos/photos as.
EDIT: I would also like to point out, from a politically unbiased point, as briefly addressed in the article AND my personal knowledge this behavior and his actions DO span out to a time BEFORE he joined the Tea Party at a max of between 10-15 years ago. So any implications posted by the site towards the Tea Party are somewhat irrelevant to the actual story.
