Justice officials delayed decision on charging Va. governor

Federal prosecutors told Virginia Gov. Robert F. McDonnell last week that he and his wife would be charged in connection with a gift scandal, but senior Justice Department officials delayed the decision after the McDonnells’ lawyers made a face-to-face appeal in Washington, according to people familiar with the case.

How is it that high ranking Republicans manage to have bona fide Federal criminal charges put off, sometimes for good?

His lawyers go and plead poor widdle McDonnell's case and he gets to stay in office another month instead of being hauled out of the people's mansion. Let's just hope he gets what he deserves in Jan.
