Staying in office, [Arkansas Lt. Gov.] Darr says

Source: Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

Lt. Gov. Mark Darr said Tuesday that he will not resign from office and intends to serve out the remainder of his term, which ends in January 2015.

"Today I put a stake in the ground. Not for this office. Nor for the title or the job. But I put a stake in the ground for those Arkansans who are sick and tired of these types of political games and the people who play them," Darr said in a written statement released today. "It would be an immediate fix to tuck tail and run but I would regret it for years to come."

In an interview with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Darr declined to discuss the people he says are playing political games.

The Arkansas Ethics Commission fined Darr $11,000 and issued him a public letter of reprimand last week for 11 separate violations of state campaign and ethics rules.

AP: Darr faces impeachment threat over ethics case

"I've not heard a public outcry for my resignation," Darr told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "The people that I've spoken to have been very understanding and sympathetic that mistakes were made and they weren't willful or intentional. What other elected officials do, that's up to them.

Meanwhile the same "liberal media" obsessed over the sex scandals of Anthony Weiner and Bob Filner has yet to cover this more serious Mark Darr story.

Sen. Boozman and Reps. Cotton, Griffin and Crawford, have all called for him to step down. House Majority Leader Bruce Westerman, R-Hot Springs, expressed disappointment, and says he thinks the votes are there, in a majority Republican General Assembly, to impeach and remove him. We shall see.

using campaign and tax money for personal things beats out Huck as the most corrupt GOP Lt. Gov. in Arkansas history.
