Wendy Davis raises more than $12 million

Source: www.dallasnews.com

"UPDATE at 5:50 p.m.: Wendy Davis, the leading Democratic contender for governor, announced Tuesday that her campaign and a joint effort with a Democratic voter turnout group raised more than $12.2 million for the race.

Davis joined the race in October and collected the money between then and the end of December. Her campaign said that it drew more than 84,000 small-dollar donations, accounting for most of the money she took in. The campaign called that “overwhelming support for her candidacy.”

About $3.5 million of the total was donated to the Texas Victory Committee, a joint effort by Davis’ campaign and the group Battleground Texas. The group, started by former campaign aides to President Barack Obama, is working on a long-term plan to register more Democratic voters and help the party compete in future presidential elections."

I know Greg and he is very mean spirited. He was a toxic tort litigator who took pride in cheating widows and orphans out of money. Greg does not have a winning personalty and so far he is running a campaign that is geared solely to tea party types.

I personally believe that based on my observations and the commercials that I have seen to date that Greg is not as strong of candidate as Perry/Goodhair. While Goodhair had problems running for POTUS, he always ran smart campaigns in Texas including refusing to debate Bill White. Greg is going to need a great deal of money to overcome his inherent nastiness.

It'll be something that will reverberate within the female, minority and youth community for a long time and eventually, cost Republicans dearly in Texas. The election is already bringing out the worst in the racist, misogynist Texas teabaggers. I'm going to dread turning on my TV next summer and fall during the campaign. Hell, they've started already and I'm sick of their "Keep It Red" ads.

Huge news!

Senator Wendy Davis outraised Greg Abbott in the last six months -- by more than $700,000 dollars. She’s raised $12.2 million dollars, exceeding expectations.

It’s time to work harder than ever before. Donate right now to keep up this showing of Democratic strength in Texas!
Senator Davis’ strong report shows Texans are ready for change, and ready to put their money where their mouth is. Your support and hard work is how we win in 2014.
Here’s what we know:
The grassroots in Texas are mobilized like never before.
Texans are supporting change, and we know Wendy can win.
Greg Abbott has been raising money and waiting in Rick Perry’s shadow for YEARS. Wendy is on track to raise the money she needs to run a competitive race.
It’s time to keep up the momentum in the new year.
Donate directly to Wendy Davis right now, and help us support the entire Democratic ticket.
Thank you --

Gilberto Hinojosa
Chair, Texas Democratic Party

P.S. A lot of littles make a big deal! It’s grassroots donations that made this achievement possible. Donate right now to keep Wendy’s network of supporters going strong.

25. In Texas...

women do and in some way or another control much. They generally stay out of politics because they have better things to do.
But some men in Texas seem to forget what happens when you piss Texas women off. They don't just get mad, they will kick your ass. I was in Canada this summer when all the excitement was going on in Austin about abortions. My one thought was If they got over 1000 women descending on Austin in the heat of July (you can literally cook your breakfast on the sidewalk), the GOP seriously underestimate the anger of Texas women. This is an issue for women that cuts across party lines. And as far as I know, men are not allowed to accompany their wives into the voting booth.

Greg Abbot should be shitting his depends at this point. It is not the shoe in he first thought.

PS...last time women were this pissed, we elected Ann Richards. A vote I never regretted.

She will spur Democratic turnout the likes that Texas hasn't seen in quite some time. Down ballot a lot of Democrats will now win because of this. Add in all of the newly registered Hispanics which should vote 3-1 Democrat and we have ourselves really going in the right direction.
One of the key things about Wendy is that she KNOWS PERSONALLY what it is like to be poor! She will not be another out-of-touch politician. She has not forgotten. I had the pleasure of sitting down with her in the Mostyn's home when she was 1st running for state Senator. We talked for about an hour and I would have asked her out if she didn't live over 300 miles away! Oh well, my loss!
Kick that piece of shite's ass Wendy!

Texas county GOP chair warns ‘abortion barbie’ Wendy Davis could be the next governor
By Eric W. Dolan
Wednesday, January 15, 2014 12:40 EST

Denton County Republican Party Chair Dianne Edmondson recently referred to Wendy Davis, a Texas state senator and Democratic candidate for governor, as “abortion barbie.”

The Lone Star Project, a political action committee that supports Davis, posted video of her comments on Tuesday.

Edmondson said conservatives in Texas shouldn’t take it for granted that a Republican would win the gubernatorial election.

“So we can’t take for granted that just because Greg Abbott will have an ‘R’ after his name he will be our next governor,” she remarked. “Can y’all imagine what it would be like if ‘abortion barbie’ is the next governor? I don’t even want to think about that, so please help us elect whoever our slate Republican is starting at Greg Abbott.”

Edmondson also warned that her running mate, Sen. Leticia Van De Putte, “was appealing to a demographic we are trying to appeal to” because she is Hispanic.
