Jim Moran to announce retirement

Virginia Democratic Rep. Jim Moran will retire after 23 years in the House, according to multiple Democratic sources.

The former mayor or Alexandria, Va., will make the announcement Wednesday morning, according to party sources.

Please Jim change your mind, we need more democrats, you have always seemed to be a good common sense person. Well good luck to you whatever you do, but please don't become a lobbyist.

I believe he got 68% of the vote in the last election. And that's with the WaPo hating him and with some controversies in his personal life.

Thanks, Cong. Moran, for voting in ways that we support, especially on animal rights.

I'm merely pointing out that this seat is unlike those in districts where we are going to have an uphill battle to retain it. His retirement is not as disastrous as those in the purple districts.

By the way, if you want to have some fun, check out all the probably-paid tea party types with questionable grammar skills posting comments about him and about his district residents (who happen to be among the most highly educated in the country, FWIW). They are really working themselves into a frenzy because they have been unable to get him out of office and now that he's retiring, the brighter among them realize that they have no better chance of winning the next election (which is why some then attack the residents).
