Arizona GOP censures McCain for 'liberal' record

Source: Associated Press, Channel 4 Tuscon

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona Republican Party has formally censured Sen. John McCain, citing a voting record that they say is insufficiently conservative.
---

According to the resolution, the 2008 Republican presidential candidate has campaigned as a conservative but has lent his support to issues such as immigration reform and to funding the law sometimes known as Obamacare.

Several Republican county committees recently censured McCain.

Give a man a reputation as a moderate Republican and he can be as crazy as he wants.

Samuel Clemens was right.

He will always be a Republican even if he wears the label of independent

It seems as he got older he lost his way and is now neither conservative or liberal; he is just stupid.

Gerald Ford would be hanged from the nearest tree, and Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan would be drummed out of the party for their heinous sins of turning on the religious right and negotiating with the Dems on Social Security.

These people are insane.

Were you affected by the water contamination? I hope all is well for our friends in WV. I know what it is like to be without water for a significant period of time (Katrina) and it is no picnic.

We were able to flush the toilet but couldn't use the water for anything else. Like you I'm out in the country where I was able to get by better than most. We have a little stream with potable water on our property and it came in handy.

As you no doubt will recall as a Katrina survivor, drinking water is not the biggest problem due to relatively small volumes required. I still have a few cases of free FEMA bottled water and we're still using it for drinking and cooking. But it's the other needs like doing the laundry and bathing that are a challenge in the long term.

I hope your dad was able to make good use of the coons. They are really good to eat if properly prepared.

It was the "haul the five gallon bucket into the bathroom, and wait until everyone has gone in the morning method". It was pretty gross. There was no water, period, at all, for 5 1/2 weeks. When I could flush a toilet, I ran around flushing them like it was Christmas.

My first bath was a week after the storm and I went with a lady to check on her horses 90 miles away and shampooed/conditioned my hair in a pond in the country. I still remember how good it felt, too!

Baby wipes. A baby wipe bath is something I NEVER hope to replicate again, particularly when it is 90 and humidity is in the upper 80%

Another advantage I had over some Katrina survivors was, the poisoned water was not knocking at my door. Hated to see the NOLA folks suffer like that. I've been there twice and I've always felt they designed the place especially for me.

Please let me know the next time you decide to bathe in a pond, in advance long enough for me to get there and hide in the bushes.

McCain is as "liberal" as our Governor Walker.

IMO though, I think McCain should have retired years ago, after he bombed big time against Obama.

As leaders in the Republican Party, we are obligated to fully support our Party, platform, and candidates. Only in times of great crisis or betrayal is it necessary to publicly censure our leaders. Today we are faced with both. For too long we have waited, hoping Senator McCain would return to our Party’s values on his own. That has not happened. So with sadness and humility we rise and declare:

Whereas Senator McCain has amassed a long and terrible record of drafting, co-sponsoring and voting for legislation best associated with liberal Democrats, such as Amnesty, funding ObamaCare, the debt ceiling, assaults on the Constitution and 2nd amendment, and has supported liberal nominees;

Whereas this record has been disastrous and harmful to Arizona and the United States; and,

Whereas Senator McCain has campaigned as a conservative, made promises during his re-election campaigns, such as the needed and welcomed promise to secure our borders and finish the border fence, only to quickly flip-flop on those promises; and

Whereas McCain has abandoned our values and has been eerily silent against Liberals, yet publicly reprimands Conservatives in his own Party, therefore

BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Arizona Republican leadership censures Senator McCain for his continued disservice to our State and Nation,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that until he consistently champions our Party’s Platform and values, we, the Republican leadership in Arizona will no longer support, campaign for or endorse John McCain as our U.S. Senator.
