Surprises arrive with latest water bills

Paul Welker of Dunbar doesn't understand why he and his neighbors saw their water bills go up in January, despite being unable to use their water for a week. He doesn't think water used for flushing his lines after the Freedom Industries chemical spill accounts for the increase he found on his bill.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Some West Virginia American Water customers were surprised this week to see increases on their most recent water bill -- despite being unable to use their water for several days.

Freedom industries pollutes the water. and the people getting the polluted water get the bill. I guess that's why its called freedom industries

what a slap in the face. For the danger and inconvenience, they should get one month free. But that's just the idealistic world I long for. Greed capitalism will not let that happen. No compassion or conscience. Sucks big time!

Surely you don't think it's stockholders are going to take a loss on all that processed water flushed through their system.
