Boehner Warns Obama Headed for 'Brick Wall'

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) – House Speaker John Boehner warned President Barack Obama that he will "run into a brick wall" by using his executive power and bypassing Congress, as the White House has signaled the President intends to do.

"We’re just not going to sit here and let the President trample all over us," said Boehner.

"This idea that he's just going to go it alone, I have to remind him we do have a constitution. And the Congress writes the laws, and the President’s job is to execute the laws faithfully. And if he tries to ignore this he's going to run into a brick wall.

Boehner, speaking during an annual State of the Union day breakfast in his Capitol office with reporters, also said raising the minimum wage for new federal contractors, which the President is expected to announce tonight, won't have much real world effect.

The money shot: "And the Congress writes the laws, and the President's job is to execute the laws faithfully." Ommm...so does that mean it's Congress' fault (ahem...YOURS) that Obamacare is the law of the land?

The President may issue EOs that comply with the law. He is not circumventing the law but is simply exercising his Executive Authority to act, pursued to legislation enacted by Congress and/or Regulations adopted by Executive Agencies to manifest Congress' wishes.

Ronald Ray-gun issued 381 in his two terms
Bush senior issued 166 in his one term
Clinton issued 364 in his two terms
GWB issued 291 in his two terms
Obama has issued as of end 2013 a total of 167 with 3 years left in his second term. Based on that average of 33 per year would me he could be expected to have issued around 267 - 270 at the end of his second term

That would mean that BO has issued less than any of the most recent 5 presidents (himself included) if you consider GHWB only had one term.

Where was the outrage when Raygun was issuing his 381 EOs or GWBs 291? There was none from the pukes because they liked it.

I suggest Boehner boy take a 7th grade civics class before he applies for his GED.

Remember, the main job of the Republicans was supposed to be preventing him from doing anything? Making him a one-term president? (That didn't work out too well.)

The president is not planning to do anything that is not entirely within the constitutional purview of his office.

which the Speaker is a captive of. There's nothing they'd like better than to embroil the President in an impeachment probe for the final years of his term. They'd like nothing better than to continue the attempt to delegitimize his Presidency by any means possible.

It's coming.....

personally wrote the article, but you would think that one of them would have the smarts to notice this spelling error that adds a quite gruesome imagery to Boehner's words:

He joked about saying the blowback he got the day after election that Obamacare is the "law of the land"

"I never got slapped around more in my whole life...you'd think i had taken God's name in vein or something"

President. He already knows the media won't call him out on the hypocrisy for having screamed "Obama is responsible for the ACA not us" for the last few years. Not to mention it was Congress who wholly failed at repealing the law.

Oh, and speaker Boehner, Congress isn't the only one who makes the law. See Roe v. Wade for clarification.

Sixty-two attempts to repeal Obamacare, or whatever the hell the number is, does not count as "writing laws." Nor do the two bills a day naming things after Ronald Reagan.

If Congress refuses to write laws and it needs done, the job naturally devolves to the president.

Oh, and John? Where were you when Bush was running the country with signing statements?
