Obama plans to use executive powers to drive ‘year of action’

Source: Washington Post

President Obama sought Tuesday to restore public confidence and trust in his presidency after a dispiriting year, pledging to use his White House authority with new force to advance an agenda that Congress has largely failed to support.

In his fifth prime-time State of the Union address, Obama returned to a familiar problem--Washington’s bitter and stalemated politics, the complaint that drove his insurgent campaign for president in 2008.

But now, after five weary years in office, it was clear he saw it differently. Instead of pledging to fix the mess, the president was now promising to find ways around it, and change policies on his own authority.

“America does not stand still,” Obama said. “And neither will I.”

I'm not impressed with how well someone can speak anymore. It means nothing. We need action! I heard too much on the campaign trails that ended up being the usual political bs. You can't be for the corporations and investment banks ...and be for ...we the people. We need full time jobs that pay a living wage. We need... We need... We need... We need... We need... We need... We need... Stop the corporate hand outs and help the working class people. STOP SELLING US OUT!

A "pollution free Keystone XL pipeline"? WTF. One said "yeah Obama will focus on jobs bills this yr just like last yr and yr before that"...when Boehner's group ran on where's the jobs and haven't produced one jobs bill in 6yrs but filibustered Obama's jobs bill".

What the hell is wrong with these people? They blame Obama for republican sabotage and purposeful destruction of our economy. Facts show us who is to blame and it is not Obama but the senate filibuster by repubs and refusal to bring up bills in Boehner's House...the do "less than nothing" republican congress. The corporate media is complicit in this propaganda. No republican president was legally elected president since Ike...but every dem president has had to put up with republican obstructionism. They have done nothing for the good of the people in the last 50yrs and America was doing great until Reagan, living off the policies of FDR. They do not deserve respect and have zero credibility and would not even be in office if we could get the money out of politics.
Greedy, self centered and destructive out to enrich themselves and appease their buyers who get elected to office merely to increase their financial worth. Republicans do not believe in democracy and will destroy the people's government. We are running out of time to get them out of our government.
