Exclusive: U.S. readies financial sanctions against Ukraine - congressional aides.

(Reuters) - The Obama administration is preparing financial sanctions that could be imposed on Ukrainian officials and protest leaders if violence escalates in the political crisis gripping Ukraine, congressional aides said on Wednesday.

Congressional aides, who asked not to be identified by name because of the sensitive subject, said they had discussed the sanction preparations with administration officials.

They said final details of the package have not been worked out, but it could be put in place quickly against government officials - or leaders of the protest movement - in case of widespread violence.

1. An even handed response from America for once...

Both sides needed to be targets of sanctions for the situation in that country. The United states should not choose who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. A government's job is to maintain law and order and the Ukrainian government should do just that. The protesters need to understand, there is a civilized way of expressing themselves which can mean peaceful demonstrations within the law and rallying their side to win elections.

Any other action is not to be supported by any peace loving individual.
