Rob Ford reportedly Ticketed for Public Intoxication in Vancouver Area

Global B.C. is reporting that Toronto mayor Rob Ford was ticketed for public intoxication and jaywalking around the boundary of Burnaby and Coquitlam. Global interviewed Ian Currie, who says he saw the mayor getting ticketed and ran over for a photo.

“He said, ‘I f---ed up, boys,’” Currie told Global, adding that Ford also said, “I thought it was looser on the West Coast. I thought you were cooler over here.”

Police refused to confirm they had ticketed Ford, citing public safety issues, but several people posted photos online of themselves with Ford. Ford appeared to be wearing the same suit and tie he wore when he arrived at Vancouver airport earlier in the day.

Correction: This article was has been updated. A previous version stated that Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was ticketed with jaywalking and public intoxication on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014. A witness at the scene claimed Ford stated he was ticketed for public intoxication. The witness has since retracted that statement. Ford was ticketed with jaywalking, but has since denied he was ticketed with public intoxication. Global News regrets the error.

Having said that, I also have to say that I don't believe anyone who is mentally healthy behaves like this. He's clearly decompensating. So I do feel a bit sorry for him and wish he'd get some serious help. On the other hand, I'm moving back to Toronto shortly, and I'm really worried he'll be reelected, which is just a mind-boggling prospect.
