President Obama vows to fight for working-class
Source: The Hill
President Obama vowed to fight for working-class Americans - with or without Congress, he said in Saturday's weekly address.
In what he labeled a three-minute version of his State of the Union address, Obama laid out the opportunity agenda he unveiled on Tuesday. He acknowledged that he'd need the help of the divided Congress to enact some of his plans, but vowed that wherever I can take steps to expand opportunity for more families on my own, I will.
Every single day, he pledged, Im going to fight for these priorities to shift the odds back in favor of more working and middle-class Americans, and to keep America a place where you can always make it if you try.
(snip)
Inequality has deepened. Too many Americans are working harder and harder just to get by. And too many still arent working at all," Obama said.

FDR did not sit around blaming foreigners (he was quite an internationalist as later events would show) or trade (he lowered tariffs). He pushed through domestic legislation that addressed the issues above. And it worked.

(27,137 posts)...how many billions are we talking here? For example, can we expect raises like Jaime and/or Lloyd got? Since we're paying for those too?
- Because I've been to ''Vowsville'' before, and it never quite meets expectations......
not until i see results on the ground, do i take any promise to be real anymore...it's too much when life requires all my energy just to get by...
