Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros left the Washington County Jail Monday and is in federal custody, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The 19-year-old woman convicted of felony hit and run in the Oct. 20 crash that killed two young stepsisters in Forest Grove will be held at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Wash., while she waits for a bond hearing in immigration court.
The hearing will determine whether she remains in custody while her immigration case is pending.
If she is released, a Washington County judge ordered her to return to the county and begin her sentence of three years of probation and 250 hours of community service.

(the words "detention center" should be added to the title but didn't fit)
This case sparked a lively discussion on DU earlier. AP also has covered this.

(23,756 posts)that fucking detention center was a huge source of controversy. Not only because it is a prison, but it also run by a union busting private firm.

(89,247 posts)from what i understand she did not realize she hit someone so can it still be hit and run ? did she try to get away with it once she found out what happened ?
on edit i read another article where it says the boyfriend tried to cover up what happened so i can understand .

(30,247 posts)The driver went over the pile for fun, but didn't at first realize that she had hit anyone. The problem is that when she was told by someone (I think that it was her brother who went back to the scene and saw a man screaming), she didn't go back to face the music. He told her that they had ran over some children. At the point she should have turned herself in to the authorities. Instead, she washed the car to remove the blood. A neighbor who recognized the car is the one who reported her.
