Biden says presidential decision will come next summer

Source: CNN

Vice President Joe Biden joked this week that being able to drive his Corvette – is one good reason not to run. But, when asked to give another good reason not to run, Biden responded simply.

“I can’t.”

“There may be reasons I don't run, but there's no obvious reason for me why I think I should not run,” he said in the interview with Kate Bolduan on CNN’s “New Day.”

Biden went on to say he would make a decision “realistically, a year this summer.”

"So, where does this all leave Biden should he jump into his own election in a little over a year?

Far behind front-runner Hillary Clinton.

A recent Washington Post/ABC poll has the Vice President at a distant second to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – who voters chose 73% to his 12%."

In 2008 he couldn't even surpass 1% of the votes and dropped out after IA. There are people who are capable and good, but who are not destined to be at the top of the ticket. Biden is one of them.

He's an elderly guy who has been around DC since forever. Besides, Obama and Hillary were a hair apart. It's not like he won the nomination by a country mile. It took the super delegates to push him over the threshold. The comparison to 2008 is inane.

Having said that, I like Biden a lot. He's a great guy, but that doesn't mean that I think that he should run for president. If it isn't Hillary, it'll be someone newer to the national scene and younger than Biden.

She's not in charge of the media or any super PAC. So don't blame her for the inevitability meme.

Then yes I agree he won't run. Hillary should announce after November.

Unlike some other members of the party who are liberal only when it's convenient, Biden has a long and proven history of being pro-environment, anti-corporate, a supporter of diplomacy over war, and a supporter of womens and civil rights causes. He's been a champion of the working class for his entire career. There is no question that he would be the most liberal President the U.S. has had since LBJ.

The problem is that between his age and his long list of gaffes and hotheaded comments (which are almost tailor made commercial fodder), it's hard to see him being elected. These have been problems in both of his previous Presidential runs, and he failed to gain any traction with his campaigns with either attempt. With so many of the party faithful already dubbing Clinton "The Chosen One", I just can't see how it will be any different this time around.

I'd support Biden for President, but he's not a candidate that has any real shot at winning.

He has no shot whatsoever. And not for any of the right reasons.
For myself, I will be getting a lot of laughs out of his feeble efforts.
I already am.
