House passes 'clean' debt ceiling bill

Source: Washington Post

The House passed a yearlong suspension of the Treasury’s debt limit Tuesday in a vote that left Republicans once again ceding control to Democrats, following a collapse in support for an earlier proposal advanced by GOP leaders. Just enough Republicans joined with nearly all Democrats to approve a “clean” extension of the federal government’s borrowing authority — one without strings attached — sending the legislation to the Senate for a possible final vote later this week.

Is it too much to hope? Do I dare to dream that my own little weasel might have gone sane? That would be Rep. Hultgren of Illinois.

Been waiting for that.

I'll admit I'm amazed. I was sure it would be more of the debt-ceiling two-step. The fact that the Speaker put it up for a vote suggests that enough of the GOP finally caught a clue that it would be bad for them in November if they kept pulling the same crap.

Isn't it possible that one of the tea baggers in the Senate might want to filibuster this bill when it gets there?

Ted Cruz (R-TX)..Mike Lee (R-UT)..James Risch (R-Idaho) or some other ass-wipe?
