Rep. Miller To Retire From Congress

Source: Talking Points Memo

Rep. Gary Miller (R-CA) announced Wednesday that he is retiring from Congress.

Miller, who had been in Congress for over a a decade and a half, said he would not seek re-election at the end of his current term from Congress.

Miller's district has been one Democrats have been hoping to pick up this cycle. The district went for President Barack Obama over Mitt Romney in 2012 handily. Obama won 57 percent of the vote while Romney won 41 percent. In 2008 Obama won the district over Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) by essentially the same margin.

his pension and lifelong health care, at our expense. I wonder who he will lobby for. I would call congressmen prostitutes, but I do not wish to denigrate prostitutes.

Heck, I don't really care. As long as he's leaving. That's the good part, and it leaves the rest of us with an opportunity to turn that seat from red to blue!

I was so upset that San Diego went back to Republican Mayor after giving us one year of Democratic Mayor after 40 years. This is so unfair. The voters should have given Democrats another chance.

If the Dems offer up shitty candidates (Filner), they can't be surprised when they damage the party

That it was Jeff Miller from Northwest Florida who is retiring. NO such luck!

That's a more right wing part of southern CA but maybe less so than the OC Coast or San Diego.

We have a huge - largely untapped and uninspired - Hispanic population. Properly motivated with a strong GOtV campaign that population can turn the IE blue.

His district is going D with or without him going for the seat so he decided to go voluntarily.
