Same-sex marriage ban won't be on November ballot (Indiana)

Source: Indianapolis Star

A constitutional ban on same-sex marriage won't go to voters in November — and may never.

An Indiana Senate decision Thursday not to restore the original language of the proposed constitutional amendment means that even if it passes as expected during a final vote on Monday, it couldn't go before voters until at least 2016.

Three senators, including sponsor Dennis Kruse, R-Auburn, had filed proposed changes that would have opened the door to re-insert the amendment's second sentence, which included a ban on civil unions and similar arrangements.

The House had previously removed that sentence.

Wow what a change from a decade ago. Between this and marijuana, who says change can't happen quickly?

...they worked so hard around the states organizing in small towns and large cities. There was a huge social media push. Here's the list of employers, universities, organizations and elected officials from across the state who joined together to oppose HJR-3 (formerly HJR).

I'm lucky to live in probably the LGBT friendliest city in the state. However, I'm proud that even people in places like Fort Wayne (which is located in/near some of the reddest of the red part of this conservative state) stood up and up for all families.

I'm also proud, and not surprised that my alma mater and my employer are also on this list.
