The ruling was announced late Thursday evening. The order released around 10 p.m. stated the following:
"The Court finds Va. Const. Art. I, § 15-A, Va. Code §§ 20-45.2, 20-45.3, and any other Virginia law that bars same-sex marriage or prohibits Virginia's recognition of lawful same-sex marriages from other jurisdictions unconstitutional. (111,160 posts)Although the former slave states will fight it tooth and nail, even enshrining unequal treatment under the law to any group the ruling class doesn't like that week into law won't work since the US constitution negates any popular ruling against civil rights enjoyed by all citizens.
It seems to be happening quickly now. All it took were a couple of brave states taking the plunge followed by the stubborn refusal of the sky to fall in those states.

"Same-sex marriage may soon be coming to the South.
A federal judge struck down part of Kentucky's same-sex marriage ban on Wednesday, joining a string of similar rulings in conservative states that have put the future of the country's remaining bans in doubt.
District Judge John G. Heyburn ordered that Kentucky recognize same-sex marriages that had been legally performed in other states and opened the door wide for activists to strike down Kentucky's ban entirely.
No federal judge has ruled in favor of such bans since a landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision on the issue last summer. Recent judicial decisions have overturned or chipped away at state laws banning gay marriage that once passed with the great popular support of voters and state legislatures.
It wasn't immediately clear how Heyburn's ruling will be received in deeply conservative Kentucky, whose voters approved a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in 2004 with 74% of the vote."

I've been watching the news on the Richmond stations covering this decision, they tend to be conservative news outlets but it is getting just a mention and not much discussion.
