Uganda tabloid prints list of ‘top’ homosexuals

Source: Arizona Republic

KAMPALA, Uganda — A Ugandan newspaper published a list Tuesday of what it called the country’s “200 top” homosexuals, outing some Ugandans who previously had not identified themselves as gay one day after the president enacted a harsh anti-gay law.

Many of those named fear violence, and some want to leave the country, an activist said.

...snip...

The Red Pepper tabloid published the names — and some pictures — of alleged homosexuals in a front-page story under the headline: “EXPOSED!”

Red Pepper news editor, Ben Byarabaha, said they published the full names of only the well-known activists and had tried to use nicknames for those not publicly gay. Others, such as a retired Anglican cleric who supports gay rights, are listed as sympathizers. Byarabaha offered no details about how the full list was compiled.

The United States military is in Uganda for counter insurgency operations against the Lords Resistance Army. It's likely that signal intelligence is part of that effort. It's unlikely these capabilities where used in this manner but it should not be overlooked that the United States is cooperating as close as you can get with this government.

a homosexual too. They just don't know what trouble they are getting into with their bigotry. It could backfire on them if the rest of them use it against those that hate.

And the tabloid news is like a baby wrote it.

We have special forces propping up these haters, paid for with AMERICAN tax dollars.

It's possible our military is helping make the Ugandans more efficient LGBT killers and hunters.

Washington is among Uganda's largest international donors. Congress has requested $456.3 million in aid to the impoverished nation, mostly for "health programs", for 2014.

One wonders on the heels of our Ruissian LGBT sochi outrage where is the emergency vote is to cancel the half billion dollars in aid and withdraw our military support from this barbaric government.

These people are being outed in a country where being gay can cost them their lives. Shame on the paper!!!

BTW, I'm posting a link to the site of a Spanish company that makes products that are environmentally friendly and with a political conscience. I have family in Spain and have bought their t-shirts in the past. They ship to the US.

This t-Shirt was made in support of the gay community in Uganda. All proceeds go to Doctors without Borders.
