Republican Candidate For Texas Governor Invokes Man Who Believes Women And Minorities Are Inferior

Source: Huffington Post

In his pre-Kindergarten education plan released this week, Texas Republican gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott cites the work of a man who believes that women and minorities are intellectually inferior to white men.

<...>

In the second paragraph of his introduction, Abbott cites Charles Murray, a conservative social scientist and fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.

"Family background has the most decisive effect on student achievement, contributing to a large performance gap between children from economically disadvantaged families and those from middle class homes," Abbott writes, citing Murray's book Real Education in the footnote. (Abbott's plan misspells the book's title as "Read Education.&quot

Murray is a very problematic source of inspiration for an education plan. The Southern Poverty Law Center describes him as "one of the most influential social scientists in America, using racist pseudoscience and misleading statistics to argue that social inequality is caused by the genetic inferiority of the black and Latino communities, women and the poor."

Greg keeps on making stupid mistakes. First, he campaigned with Nugent and alienated a group of voters. Next Greg had issues with the concept of pay equality and actually blamed women for their pay inequality because women are too busy and are bad negotiators. To help things, it turns out the Greg underpays women attorneys in the AG's office. Finally, Greg goes for the racist vote by quoting a nut case who believes that women and minorities are inferior.

Wendy Davis is going after the single suburban women vote and Greg is doing his best to alienate this vote. Greg is making Perry look like a genius which is a major accomplishment. Perry may be an idiot but he never made the mistakes that Greg is routinely making.

The spouse in my house was an alternate judge during the primaries.

She came home very discouraged over the turnout. She's working with the "Battleground Texas" group which supports Wendy Davis. We're working hard to get her elected but people have to vote!

needs to get deputized to register voters and volunteer with Battleground Texas to get Senator Davis elected governor. I volunteer for a Battleground Texas phone bank every Tuesday evening now and plan to step it up when the election gets closer with voter registration, neighborhood canvassing and providing free daycare for volunteers' kids at my little home preschool. I haven't been psyched enough to work for a candidate since Obama's first run in '08.
