EXCLUSIVE: CHRISTIE PROSECUTOR GETS ITS STAR WITNESS TO START TALKING
Source: Esquire
David Wildstein, the NJ governor's man inside the Port Authority, replied to the infamous e-mail on "traffic problems in Fort Lee."

Bad news for Chris Christie -- and very good news for the citizens of New Jersey: Esquire has learned from sources close to the investigation that David Wildstein, the former Port Authority operative who helped plan and execute the Great Fort Lee Clusterfk, is now cooperating with Paul Fishman, the federal prosecutor investigating the soon-to-be-ex-governor and his minions for criminal conduct. Fishman has also increased the number of investigators at work on the case, and has begun presenting evidence and witnesses to a grand jury in Newark.
Wildstein was forced to quit his PA job in December, before Fort Lees corpses bobbed to the surface. Christie, who went to high school with Wildstein and put him at the PA as director of interstate capital projects -- a job created just for him -- helped edit the media statement thanking Wildstein for his service to the people of New Jersey and the region.
In January, Wildstein refused to testify before a New Jersey legislative committee investigating last Septembers George Washington Bridge lane closures, citing his 5th Amendment protection against self-incrimination. It was Wildsteins cache of e-mails and texts, provided to the committee, that featured the instantly immortal exchange between Christies former deputy chief of staff, Bridget Kelly (Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee) and Wildstein (Got it).
Christie fired Kelly in early January. Both her lawyer and Wildsteins have said their clients would cooperate with investigators in exchange for immunity from prosecution. The recently released, 360-page Christie Report -- commissioned by Christie, crafted by the same law firm Christie hired to answer investigators subpoenas of his own office, touted by Christie as vindication, and paid for by New Jersey taxpayers -- found that of all of the folks working in the governors, and all the others he appointed to executive positions at the PA, only Wildstein and Kelly had any knowledge that Fort Lees nightmare was caused by anything other than an ill-conceived but genuine Port Authority traffic study.

(13,190 posts)It will have to take a impeachment trail for him to resign.Plus we don't know if Wildstein has anything implementing the fat guy

(38,414 posts)My guess is it is only a matter of time. When, not if, someone says he had "direct involvement" That is, he gave the order. We will see, and it will be fun to watch. You know, every step of this smells like "Watergate".
....oh, I didn't know anything.. sure...the shadow knows..

(81,110 posts)And I hope no one's too generous with get-outta-jail-free cards. These two, Wildstein and Kelly, were the ones "playing in traffic," fucking over the city of Fort Lee and EVERY motorist who tried to drive through there to, and over, the George Washington Bridge - for almost an entire WEEK. There should be some price to pay for that.

(11,238 posts)And the Feds wouldn't give him immunity unless what he had to offer them was the goods to nail the big guy. Christie might refuse to resign, hoping to run out the clock, but it's not exactly going to get better for him, and there's a lot of clock to run out before the end of his term. My money would be on what Wildstein has. He's a ratfucker from way back.

(7,402 posts)Where Wildstein pleads guilty to a single misdemeanor charge involving no jail time but a fine and community service. I doubt he would get complete immunity without a plea bargain along these lines. From here he will go up the food chain with Kelly next on deck. Her terms will not be quite as favorable.

Between Christie's relationship with David Samson and his manipulation of Sandy/other Federal funds, the Feds, at least, can easily nail Christie without Kelly or Wildstein's "help."

(22,000 posts)Once they are implicated the amount of leverage they have to get immunity is going to decrease. Kelly still has the most to lose.

Is a real card..
But, that is not all
He will take a fall.
And you look in his eyes....
All you see, are lies....
He will need some bail,
To stay out of jail...
