NRA endorses McConnell in Kentucky GOP primary

Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell now has an endorsement to go with his gun.

The National Rifle Association’s political action committee announced Friday it has endorsed McConnell in the May 20 Republican primary. McConnell made headlines last month when he appeared at the Conservative Political Action Conference waving a rifle over his head. The rifle was a lifetime achievement award McConnell presented to U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma.

In a news release, NRA Political Victory Fund chairman Chris Cox called McConnell a true champion of the Second Amendment. Likely Democratic nominee Alison Lundergan Grimes mocked McConnell, saying he was holding the gun wrong and tweeted: “KY women do it better.”

The Gun Owners of America has endorsed McConnell’s GOP primary challenger Matt Bevin.

Always better to support a rethug who knows he's been bought and paid for versus a rethug who delusionally believe he won because of his ideas.

... on second thought, I'm not sure which side I'd hope that tainted money landed.

If they have two candidates, an incumbent and a challenger, and they both have A ratings, then tie goes to the incumbent.

Back in 2010 they endorsed a lot of Democratic congressmen for reelection because they had A letter grades. But then the ordinary members voted for their Republican challengers anyway.

I can't tell how many, seriously, just how many of my working class peers among friends, family, coworkers who, if it weren't for the gun issue, wouldn't vote republican. It's stupid. it's wrong; but it's real.
