Possible GOP presidential candidates to court NRA

Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Several potential Republican contenders for president will court gun-rights supporters at the NRA’s annual convention Friday.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum are set to speak at the convention’s leadership forum, a kind of political pep rally and strategy meeting the NRA considers one of its premier events of the year.

They’ll be speaking to thousands of NRA members at a time when the gun lobby is arguably stronger than ever. And each possible 2016 candidate is expected to highlight his own role in pushing back gun-control measures.

Jindal approved several gun rights bills last year, including one that creates stiff penalties for those who knowingly publish the names of gun permit holders. In 2010, he signed a measure that allowed concealed handguns in churches, mosques and synagogues.

the day and there was not one single murder in NYC and the BFD that was made about it - how positive we are getting to be? It seems to me that right after that story came the GOP got their panties in a wad and next thing you know, we now know who the president-hater of the NRA is and there has been some horrific mass murders since then, especially little children

Every time *we* start to make progress, here come the assholes to pull us back...

Just noticing...

Jindal, Pence and Santorum? where is the A team of the GOP contenders? where is Christi, Cruz, Bush? someone please tell me there is a 2nd meeting where the real contenders are going to show up. If this is the only names the NRA can get to show up, then they are not as powerful as I thought. The casino magnet pulled in more A list guys than the NRA

their meeting with Sheldon (more money than) god Adelson. Give them a little time to recover and it will be back on their knees time once again. There is no shame they won't endure for money.

My best friends, with whom I have always enjoyed the sport of recreational shooting with, but have been moving steadily to the right the last several years, as well as my inveterate right wing father. Now guns are a wedge issue, or so they think. Both know we've very little common ground politically anymore and have been trying desperately to make me a republican single-issue gun voter. And both are unread paranoid dolts.
