Alleged Hillary Clinton shoe thrower arraigned

Source: Associated Press

A Phoenix woman accused of throwing a shoe at Hillary Rodham Clinton during a speech in Las Vegas remains in federal custody after pleading not guilty to two criminal charges.

Alison Ernst, 36, entered the pleas to misdemeanor counts of trespassing and violence against a person during her arraignment late Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Cam Ferenbach then granted the government's request to keep Ernst in federal custody, saying she was a flight risk and danger to the community. She is being held at a jail operated by a federal contractor in Pahrump, 63 miles west of Las Vegas.

Ferenbach raised concerns about Ernst's residency status and mental health condition, Natalie Collins, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's office in Nevada, told The Associated Press.

but she obviously needs some help as well. It will be interesting to see if she has anything else turn up in a criminal background check. She's only being charged with a misdemeanor which depending on whether she has priors could mean a few months in jail.

Seems like half the time the reporters just make up the names of these charges. "Violence against a person"? Seems unlikely that this crime actually exists in the statutes by that name.

Are they lying?

They also have the police report appended to the article.

Is it a fake?

The NY Daily News is home to Jimmy Breslin and Mike Lupica, two of the finest journalists in America. You gotta problem wit' that????

Or are you confusing the Daily News with the Post.

and I'll say "Not really"
A tabloid with the important story about a woman with conjoined twins refusing surgery...
"Braless in Brooklyn..."
"Exclusive: FBI investigates claims that Christine Quinn was threatened..."

Meh. Daily News always struck me as a bit 'yellow'. But they DO have a crapload of photos!

and let me say that my feelings about this are set a little on edge by the fact that she is/was being held in one of those private contractor Fed prisons....places people go to not be seen until the 'authorities' deem appropriate. There's something about these for-profit facilities that smacks of those our CIA black sites.
Of course she didn't throw a shoe at some lady at a school board meeting...

who require medical care, etc.

She's currently got two misdemeanor counts against her, so I suspect that the decision to lock her up came from a combination of things....perceived mental status, combined with the lack of fixed ties to the community, and possibly the lack of family to care for her. Plus....frankly, she doesn't seem to be done with attacking people.

She's go the federal defender, and they are very good.

“James enters my head like Dennis Quaid in ‘Innerspace’ and he zooms to my heart and plays with it and forces me to care for him,” the document read. “I seek a restraining order to stop Holmes from entering my mind through subliminal messaging and causing me to be obsessed with him on a daily basis.”

she could get a message to shoot 20 more people/harm herself
