Owners meet, hope to move quickly on Sterling

Source: AP

NEW YORK (AP) — The NBA owners' advisory/finance committee has held its first meeting about Donald Sterling and is committed to ending his ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers "as expeditiously as possible."

The 10-member committee held a conference call Thursday to discuss "the process for termination of Donald T. Sterling's ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers," the league says in a statement.

Commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling for life and fined him $2.5 million Tuesday for making racist comments. Silver said he also would urge owners to force Sterling to sell.

To reduce any financial loss that might result while he is still the owner.

I believe the value of the franchise has already gone down from $700 million to $400 million something

Im guessing they don't have much leverage short of kicking the team out of the league.

We see the humiliation of men still working for this loser, instead of quitting en mass. Calling him a slave owner as spike did, implies the men are on a plantation and have no free will. It strikes me they could all refuse to work for the man.

Instead they wear black socks and toss uniforms, and boss about ball boys in their protest.

This game is a business, nothing more.

The players, the coaches and the fans all probably feel some ownership. Even if they legally do not have any.

If they push him out then that is some kind of pro argument for socialization, I think.

That's my team..

That's why the green bay packers are unique in in all of sports, they are community owned. Even then the community has no say in running the team.

The feeling of community ownership is part of the product.

The business is spectacle, ad sales and ticket sales, and merchandising.

That people get emotional about it shows it's successful.
