Kim Jong-un's 'executed' ex-girlfriend miraculously reappears on TV
1:44 PM Sunday May 18, 2014
The ex-girlfriend of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un who was thought to have been executed by firing squad last year has appeared back on state television smiling and talking.
In what is a miraculous turn of events, singer Hyon Song-wyol seems to have come back from the dead after being interviewed during a state broadcast.
Last year, reports from newspapers in neighbouring South Korea reported that Hyon had been one of a group of musicians arrested and then machine gunned down after charges of pornography were brought against her.
According to the reports, the singer, along with band members of the Unhasu Orchestra, the Wangjaesan Light Music Band and the Moranbong Band were accused of filming themselves having sex with one another and then selling the recordings.
~snip~
North Korea has always denied the reports calling them "unpardonable", saying the rumours were the work of "psychopaths" in the South Korean government.

(22,000 posts)It's hard to know what to believe when it comes to North Korea. I don't believe in the death penalty, but I wouldn't mind him getting a piece of his own medicine.

(62,269 posts)They never confirmed the girlfriend and I know I was skeptical about that report.
Of course, the "how" he was executed is up to debate. Feral dogs makes a good story.

(22,000 posts)I never did hear for sure. If they just said it, I would take it with a 5 ton nuclear grain of salt

(62,269 posts)If they didn't execute him then they sure did want people to think they did.

(22,000 posts)Then again maybe they didn't execute him so they could make Kim look like a god when they brought Ungle Jang back to life.

(2,702 posts)actually, that means you do believe in the death penalty. when it comes to death, it's pretty much all or nothing.

(22,000 posts)I do very much dislike the guy. Putting him in a work camp would probably be a better way.

(5,861 posts)Usually that is a good way to tell if a story was vetted by someone that knows what they are talking about, and not just copy-pasted out of some tabloid as most NK horror stories turn out to be.
Usually.

(3,959 posts)He's a ruthless POS starving his people to maintain his boot on their throats.
In the mode of his father and GF, he punishes "treason" to three generations. People are rounded up and sent to torture and death never knowing what they, or an unnamed relative, might have done wrong.

(46,318 posts)1. The story was bullshit from a South Korean supermarket tabloid. (Most plausible)
2. Girl is a double, perhaps even a twin of executed girlfriend. (Least credible)
3. Girl had been in some sort of treatment, maybe even North Korean drug rehab.
4. Had a baby. After all, couldn't have Kim's ex having another man's child.
