Federal judge: Missouri doesn’t have to identify chemicals in lethal injection mix

A federal judge in the U.S. state of Missouri refused Monday to postpone an execution, which would be the first since a botched lethal injection ignited a national debate.

Russell Bucklew is set to be put to death on Wednesday in Bonne Terre for the murder of a love rival and the rape of his former girlfriend.

However, the inmate says a rare medical condition, which leaves him with growths on his head and neck, creates significant risk that he will die a painful death similar to that endured by an Oklahoma man whose botched execution has prompted accusations of torture.

Bucklew requested the postponement as well as the right to have his lethal injection filmed for use as evidence of his suffering.

If the state, on my behalf (not that I live in Missouri), wants to execute someone who COULD be innocent, the least the state can do is to provide transparency on the method of execution and give experts the opportunity to evaluate the potential for "cruel and unusual punishment" as a result of the process. Now I have to consider state-performed murder "cruel and unusual punishment" but I guess the people on the Supreme Court agree with Darth "Chickenhawk" Cheney that water boarding isn't torture.

My dad has been a diabetic for 40 yrs and ive seen him dangerously low several times. He's just laying there asleep untill his glucose is brought back up. My ex wife had an infection that lowered her level to the mid 20s and she's always said if youre gonna go, thats the way. She said she remembered nothing. My dad has said the same thing.

They are well documented, I think the three chemical Lethal injection had an element of theatre about it.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but wouldn't an overdose of heroin or some other opiate be effective and alleviate pain?

Or, why not just put the condemned under anesthesia before delivering whatever fatal concoction they are using?

I think whoever invented the three chemical execution and the states that adopted it, created a bit of theater.
