Source: Huffington Post

TOKYO (AP) — Two members of the all-female Japanese pop group AKB48 and one staffer have been injured by a saw-wielding man at a fan event.

Japanese media reports and a statement on the group's official blog say that 18-year-old Anna Iriyama and 19-year-old Rina Kawaei were cut on their hands and head. A male staff member also was cut on the hand.

They were taken to a hospital late Sunday afternoon for treatment.

Police arrested the attacker, a 24-year-old unemployed man.

Horrible. They don't deserve that, they might consider having guards in the future. This should have never happened.

"Akushukai" (握手会 ) . The singers were in a tent meeting with fans when the incident occurred. The suspect just started slashing away as soon as he entered the tent.

Like the idiot who drove through a crowd of people during "Pedestrian Mall Day" at Akihabara (Tokyo) some years back (Some streets in the popular "Electric Town" district of Akihabara had been closed to vehicular traffic on Sundays before that incident, but that was stopped after the incident).

There is a huge selection of types of music coming from Japan. Korea seems to focused on their girl and boy bands. Some of it I like SNSD: girls generation.

There is a lot of good stuff out there... AKB47 are for the younger kids in Japan. I like some of their stuff but there is to me way better music coming from Japan.. I especially love Jrock... and groups like Gazette.

that most of the fans at these meet-the-fans activities are adult men ... (dry heave). The reason some foreign women married to Japanese men don't want their daughters to go into show business in Japan is for this reason, proximity to potentially very creepy men who cannot or do not want to interact with regular women. Stalkers murdering women is a regular occurrence but at least now the police are doing a much better job at being proactive about it. The latest member of AK47 .... oops, I mean AKB48, is a 37-year-old mother of two who is supposed to bring in a larger female audience. She has a three month contract. No, no, no. Nobody wants to see an adult woman, only an endless chorus line of girls with chubby legs in knee socks.

I just saw NHK news -- the mother of the slasher said he stays home and doesn't go out for a month at a time and doesn't speak and he doesn't watch TV. He just wanted to kill someone. Releases the stress, most of these guys say. Some AKB48 fans interviewed (all adult men) said that when they attended the meet-the-fans events in the past there were some men screaming or mumbling to themselves and sometimes a weird dude wouldn't let go of the girls' hands and things like that (dry heave again).
