Poll: Corbett Deeply Unfavorable Among Voters

But that doesnt mean he cant win re-election.
Only 30.8 percent of likely Pennsylvania voters have a favorable impression of Tom Corbett, up from 29.4 percent in February, according to the survey by the Robert Morris University Polling Institute, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Likely voters in Pennsylvania continue to have a poor impression of Gov. Corbett. This is true across the demographic categories of gender, age and marital status, said RMU political scientist Philip Harold, associate dean of the School of Education and Social Sciences.
Corbett campaign spokesman Billy Pittman said thatll change now that Corbett has an official opponent, Tom Wolf, in the race. The governor has been keeping his promises and getting the states finances in line. These werent always easy decisions or popular decisions, Pittman said.
The poll also showed Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton as the favorite 2016 presidential candidates of the voters.

(95,337 posts)but they would rather amputate a leg first than to vote for a democrat.
People make such a big deal about how more democrats showed up on PA Primary day than Republicans. I wouldn't read anything into that. I think the people who are disgusted with Corbett just decided to stay at home. First there was no other big race this election (off year for Senators and Corbett and his Lt. Gov ran unopposed. The Democrat race was highly contested and thus a higher turn out.
But in the end the GOP and Corbett will do all they can to paint Wolf as a hardcare liberal who wants to take away guns, god and make everyone gay. I saw the same thing in 2000 when Ron Klink was nominated to run against Rick Santorum for US Senate. Santorum was extremely unpopular in Pennsylvania but Santorum did an amazing job attacking Klink (who was a DLC democrat who bordered on being a DINO) and making him look unelectable to those conservative counties in PA. And since Klink (who was from Western PA) assumed that he had the vote in Philly and the 4 surrounding counties Klink didn't bother to campaign in that market. Klink won Philly county but lost the 4 surrounding counties mainly because Santorum ran ads 24/7 in that area and made Klink look like a Klunk.
So I think Corbett is a very dangerous candidate that will be extremely hard to beat and I plan on helping out in Pennsylvania with the campaign!
BTW yes 300k Demos showed up to vote over 250k Republicans - that is nothing. In 2014 almost 4 million Pennsylvanians turned out for the fall election with Corbett getting over 2 million votes.
