LePage denies he discussed ‘executing’ Maine Democratic leaders
Source: Bangor Daily News
BANGOR, Maine In two calls Monday evening to the Bangor Daily News, Gov. Paul LePage vehemently disputed assertions made by a liberal blogger in a forthcoming book that LePage made references in 2013 to executing Maines speaker of the House and Senate president.
I was never in the room where execute was used, the governor said in a phone call to the BDN managing editor.
It never happened, he said later in the call. We did not discuss execution, arrest or hanging.
Mike Tipping, communications director for the Maine Peoples Alliance, has written a book about LePage titled As Maine Went. He has launched an online fundraising campaign to pay for the book, which has yet to be published.

''Here is political reporting and analysis at its best without shrieks and full of facts to back up what the author is saying. The first chapter is a barn burner that gripped me from the moment I started reading. Mike Tipping dispassionately but devastatingly dissects the career and antics of Maine's arch right wing Governor Paul LePage.'' --Neil Rolde, Maine author, historian, and politician
'The LePage Administration is not going to run down to the Appropriations Committee because Mike Tipping wrote a column.'' --Spokesperson Dan Demeritt, explaining Governor LePage s decision in March 2011 to exempt his own pension from his cuts to the pensions of all other state employees
''Hats off to Mike Tipping for stepping back from the daily barrage of headlines and diving deeply into the political phenomenon that is Governor Paul LePage. From health care and education to buffaloes and black flies, As Maine Went paints an informative and often troubling portrait of one of Maine s most unforgettable public figures.'' --Bill Nemitz, columnist, Portland Press Herald and Maine Sunday Telegram

@ one time Maine had a wonderful and smart senator, Margaret Chase Smith and she
was a republican too*. This what the GOP gets from letting Fox, Rush, and the Koch
Brothers run their party because in that whack a doodle world President Obama isn't
a real President or American and or working with the the other side to help the American
people should never be done.
* at one time we had good republicans but those days are over.

(17,077 posts)I never said it, but the governor said it. I never opened my mouth and said the word, explained McCarthy. The governor looked at us and looked at his buddy and said, Theyre talking about hanging them. (The buddy was apparently a member of LePages legal staff.)

This will not play well at all here in Maine. I think he is TOAST at the polls come November.
