Vladimir Putin Wishes President Obama Happy July 4th

Source: Politico

By JONATHAN TOPAZ | 7/4/14 8:40 AM EDT

Russian President Vladimir Putin called for improved U.S.-Russian relations in a congratulatory July 4th message to President Barack Obama released Friday.

“Mr. Putin said that he hopes that ties between the two countries, which have a rich history, will continue successful development on a pragmatic and equal basis despite the current differences and difficulties,” the Kremlin wrote in a statement.

“The president also stressed that Russia and the United States are both countries bearing particular responsibility for ensuring international stability and security,” the statement continued, “and should therefore cooperate not just for the benefit of their own peoples but also in the entire world’s interest.”

Russian and U.S. relations are at a low point because of disagreements regarding the situations in Syria and Ukraine. The White House imposed sanctions on several Russian companies and individuals regarding its annexation of Crimea and buildup of troops on Ukraine’s eastern border.

'Russia And US Share Special Mission,' Putin Tells Obama In July 4 Greeting

Published time: July 04, 2014 13:51

Vladimir Putin has acknowledged that Russia-US relations are currently not at their best in a congratulatory Fourth of July note to Barack Obama. The Russian president said he was sure, however, that the two countries “must cooperate.”

‘Every state has right to be different’: Top 10 takeaways from Putin's foreign policy speech

The Independence Day greetings from Russia come at a time when relations between the two countries are at their lowest in years, mostly over differences in approach to the situation in Ukraine.

But the Kremlin press service said that, nevertheless, “the head of the Russian state has expressed hope that despite difficulties and disagreements, longstanding relations between the two countries will successfully develop on a pragmatic and equal basis,” citing the congratulatory telegram.

Vladimir Putin also described Russia and the US as “two countries bearing special responsibility for maintaining international stability and security.” He said that the two nations “must cooperate not only in the interests of their own peoples but of the whole world.”

then someone could've locked it for being an unreliable news source for reasons wholly unassociated with the subject at hand.

He has found out he has little power to affect events in the modern world. "Democracy in Egypt", "Assad Must Go", "Russia must leave Crimea", etc., etc.

...instrumental in ridding biological weapons from Syria; permitting the Ukrainians to solve THEIR OWN problems with THEIR neighbors; suspending the nuclear program in Iran, and on and on.

Had we been stuck with "slick-hair-do", we'd now be involved in war with Iran, Syria, Russia, North Korea; and NONE of his five boys would get a hand bloody while we sink our nation into further debt and commit to a generation of war invalids and TPSD victims among us for the future.

Honestly, what you don't see sometimes is more important than the tip of the iceberg you do see.

You remember, that foreign war that Obama called the "good war" during the campaign. His surge was supposed to fix that. It didn't and now he is trying to keep troops there "as advisers". He made threatening statements about bombing Syria until Putin intervened and came up with the joint U.S.-Russia agreement to get the chemicals out. He now wants to "train" the rebels most of whom are al-Qaeda adherents.

When I look at occupants of the White House I don't say "well he not as bad as ..... would have been." We need to end all of our military adventures. Period.

Take your pick. Easy to say he should have just pulled the troops out of Afghanistan. In a simple world, simple answers work for some. In reality it isn't a simple world; and had he gotten us out sooner, you, along with all the goons on the right would be bitching and moaning how he turned and ran...ACA never would have begun, he never would have been elected to a second term, and we'd have Willard calling the shots today..with a bigger build up ALL around the Middle East.

No time to waste arguing with people who can only count to ten, and can't see beyond that number as to what would more than likely have transpired had he followed your plan of exit.

He got us out of Iraq, and we may never get out of Afghanistan. Regardless of who sits in the White House.
