Rob Astorino: Chris Christie should consider stepping down as RGA chairman if he can't support me

Source: NY Daily News

Upset that Gov. Chris Christie dismissed his campaign to unseat Gov. Cuomo as a lost cause, Republican Rob Astorino suggested Tuesday that Christie should resign as chairman of the Republican Governors Association.

At a press conference in Manhattan, Astorino said, “If Gov. Christie is unable to help a Republican candidate for governor, then maybe he should consider stepping down as chairman of the RGA. That's his job.”

A Siena poll on Monday found Astorino trailing Cuomo by 37 points.

Christie said the RGA doesn’t “pay for landslides and we don’t invest in lost causes...If the New York race becomes competitive, I’ll consider campaigning in the New York race, but right now, by the public polls, there’s a lot more competitive races.”

Personally, I agree completely with Christie's triaging of campaigns and absent unlimited funds, I would expect DSCC, DGA and DCCC to do the same. But then, Bennett, Israel and Shumlin aren't running for President, so I'll enjoy the blowback.

Christie needs him as an alibi on Bridge(t)-Gate!!!

Rumor has it that he called Cuomo to ask him to stop his New York Port Authority exec Patrick Foye from being so nosy about the lane closures -- which means he knew of the lane closures and there not being a traffic study at least a month sooner than he claims:
